Update on Wednesday’s post about threat rumors:
First of all I want to apologize for the glitch in our system that caused some of you to not get the message I sent on Wednesday. Hopefully that has been resolved.
The investigation was completed yesterday. The rumors lead back to two separate incidents, both of them earlier this week.
The first was a comment made by a student directed at another. The comment was, “I’m not gonna get shot today.” This was clearly viewed and heard on school surveillance video.
The second was a classroom discussion about jobs. A student said he wanted to be a cop to catch bad guys. Another student said he would just shoot them.
Unfortunately comments like these can easily morph into something more serious, even without intending to do so.
Thank you again to those of you who contacted us with information. We will continue to be vigilant when it comes to the safety of our kids.
School will proceed as normal Monday. Enjoy your long weekend.
Tami Richey, Superintendent
2nd graders have been enjoying their Science lessons this week!! Mrs. Grinder’s class made observations of plants and animals to compare the diversity of life in different habitats and Mrs. Mistler’s class classified animals!
At about 4:30pm this afternoon the District administration was contacted by a couple of parents about a rumor their children heard about possible violence at Lead Hill School District tomorrow.
We have already begun the investigation with the help of local and county law enforcement. As of right now we have not located the origin of this rumor so we have not proven or disproven the validity of it.
Therefore, if you choose to keep your child home tomorrow, Thursday, September 19, it will be an excused absence.
As always, it is our ultimate desire to keep everyone safe.
Special thank you to the parents who contacted administrators of the district instead of perpetuating the rumor. We cannot stress enough how important it is to keep us in the loop.
There is already no school on Friday so I will put out another message before school on Monday, September 23rd to update you on the situation.
Parent/Teacher conferences will go on as scheduled tomorrow night. If you do not plan on attending, email your child's teacher.
Thank you again for your patience,
Tami Richey, Superintendent

The VFW bought us art supplies for the upcoming VFW Art Contest. Kaden Baker and Makena Schrader made it to state with their last year’s art project!

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, September 19th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. There will be no school for students on Friday, September 20th due to a Teacher Flex Day.
There will be a Flu Shot Clinic for students and staff to receive free flu vaccines on Thursday, October 17th. Boone County Health Department will be providing the immunizations at Lead Hill School. A signed consent form is required to receive the vaccine. Consent forms were sent home with students today. Extra forms can be picked up in the K-12 Office.
Update About Social Media Post:
After completing our investigation we have determined the questionable post was not a threat and was unrelated to the district.
When we share information with you as parents and community there is always speculation about what is going on and often times there is incorrect information shared by people other than district administration. We share what we are able to share.
Had this been a direct threat to students and/or staff, more extreme measures would have been taken, up to and including closing school.
The safety of our kids and staff members are of utmost importance to us.
Thank you again for your patience.
Tami Richey, Superintendent
Our FFA & 4H students did great at the poultry show at the Boone County Fair today! Congratulations to Andrew Shekels for receiving Reserve Grand Champion Broilers!
Lead Hill Elementary has a really cool fundraiser that is ongoing through the ENTIRE school year!! It's easy for you to participate and help students win prizes; you don't have to buy anything extra! If you enter through the link and click the "Merchants" section of over 300 online retailers, simply shop as you normally would and our school earns a percentage of your purchases! Of course they also have a school store where you can buy extra things, but we want your percentages!!! Each elementary student has their own personal shopping link to shop through, so you can shop through an individual child's link to help them earn prizes while you shop! Thank you for supporting our school!!
Here's a link to a student's shopping page, so you can check it out. Be sure to ask an elementary student you know for their link to help them win prizes throughout the year! https://www.schoolstore.com/cgi/SSCHomePage?orderid=SS071741520240911
