National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day

The National Association of School Resource Officers established National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day on February 15 every year. This was established to show appreciation to our school-based law enforcement officers and let our SROs know how much we appreciate them bridging the gap between law enforcement and youth. SROs fill a three-part role in their jobs: informal mentors/counselors, law educators, and law enforcement officers to students and community.

Proven Benefits of the School Resource Officer program:

  1. Prevention/minimization of property damage in school and surrounding area

  2. Prevention of student injuries

  3. Reduction of need for schools to call 911

  4. Reduction of likelihood students will get a criminal record

  5. Increase likelihood that students get help from social service and health care systems

  6. Increase the feelings of safety among students and staff
